Caladium Care guide
Light:
Caladiums are outdoor plants and grow best in shady spots.
Watering:
Keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy. Water the plant thoroughly and allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. In general, Boston ferns like humid environments, so consider misting the leaves or placing the plant on a pebble tray to increase humidity.
Soil: Use a well-draining soil mix
Fertilizing: During the growing season (spring and summer), fertilize every two to four weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer like Grobest. In Autumn and winter, fertilize monthly. Don’t over do it with high nitrogen as this can force more green to come through.
Temperature:
Caladiums prefer warm, humid environments with temperatures between 15-24°C.
Winter storage:
As soon as your caladium starts losing leaves before autumn you will need to dig them out and dust them with a fungicide. Store them in sawdust over the winter time.
