Calathea Magic Star care guide
Light Requirements:
Calatheas do well in bright indirect sunlight and well lit rooms. They don’t tolerate sun as this will burn their leaves.
Watering needs:
These plants love moist soil, but it must not be not muddy. Water these plants quite regulary but ensure they don’t sit in a bowl of water as this will cause root rot. Read below regarding soil requirements.
Humidity requirements:
Humidity is very important for Calatheas so regular misting is important. Where possible let them sit on a tray of stones or leca that has water in it.
Fertilizing:
As with all plants, fertilizing is very important. These guys will enjoy being fertlized at least every two weeks with a general liquid fertlizer, or a water soluble fertlizer like Multi Booster or Grobest
Soil:
It’s always good practice to upsize the pot once a year and give him a fresh mix. They require a well draining soil mixture that has good moisture retention.
Try and only use a premium potting mix such as the Gromor Potting Soil and but also add in Perlite that will assist with good drainage, plus peat moss and coir husks that will hold in some moisture
