Light Requirements:
The Never Never plants need very bright indirect light but can manage in a medium light. However the veins in the leaves will start to become a lot thicker over time.
Watering needs:
It’s important that these plants are always kept moist. They are tropical plants so they do need a good amount of moisture.
However, Ctenanthe’s don’t like to be kept muddy, so check that the soil has the correct additives.
Should you keep them on the drier side you will find that their leaves start curl.
Humidity requirements:
Humidity is very important for these plants that coupled with keeping them moist will ensure their leaves stay at their prime.
Fertilizing:
These guys will enjoy being fertlized at least every two weeks with a general water soluble fertlizer like Multi Booster, or ideally use a Controlled Release fertilizer which last for 6 months and then top them with a great product like Terra Plus N which gives them an incredible boost!
Soil:
Ctenanthe’s require a well draining soil mixture that has good moisture retention.
Try and only use a premium potting mix such as the Bark Indoor Potting soil and it’s always good practice to add in Perlite that will assist with good grainage, plus peat moss and coir husks that will hold in some moisture.

Their common name “Prayer plant” comes from how they close up their leaves at night, and then open the during the day.
