Marantha Fascinator care guide

Light Requirements:

These plants love a brightly lit room and being close to a window.

However it is important to avoid them getting any direct sunlight as this will cause burn marks on their leaves.

Watering needs:

Marantha’s do need a moderate amount of water. So try and keep the soil mix evenly moist – but not muddy. They can be allowed to dry out a little bit, especially just the top two cm’s of the soil.

Water your Marantha thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot. Allow excess water to drain away and avoid letting the plant sit in standing water.

You don’t want it to dry out completely as this may turn the substrate that it’s currently in – hydrophobic, and thereby repelling water.  Keeping it evenly moist is a win! Try out our water spouts that are the absolutely when it comes to watering plants. They give a nice gentle even spread of water around plants.

Humidity requirements:

These plants really do love rooms and spaces with  slightly higher humidity, but they will adjust and  love life in the general humidity of your home.

Fertilizing:

Like any plant, these plants do enjoy and thrive off constant nutrients like a controlled release fertilizer.  This should be dug into the soil at least every 6 months. It is also important to give calatheas a good boost every few months with a high nitrogen fertilizer such as TerraPlus N  .

Soil:

Maranthas thrive in a lovely airy mix. When it’s time to repot, consider using our aroid mix additive and combine that with perlite. That mix literally has everything needed for the perfect substrate!
