Delivery & Collections
We know shipping live plants can feel a little nerve-racking
Sending a living plant across the country is very different from sending an ordinary parcel. That’s why we take extra care with every order before it leaves us.
We’ve been shipping plants throughout South Africa for years, and our packing process has been developed specifically to protect the plant, pot and growing medium while it is in transit.
Each plant is carefully prepared and secured inside its box to minimise movement during transport.
Unless specifically stated otherwise on the product page, plants are shipped in their original black nursery pots.
When will my order be dispatched?
Most orders are prepared for dispatch within 1–3 working days.
We dispatch plant orders Monday to Friday.
Larger orders, XL and XXL plants, or particularly busy periods may occasionally need a little additional preparation time.
Once your order has been collected by the courier, you’ll receive tracking information so that you can follow its journey.
How long does delivery take?
Once collected from us, most courier deliveries take approximately 2–5 working days, depending on your location and the courier servicing your area.
Please remember that this delivery estimate starts once your order has been dispatched, rather than from the day the order is placed.
Remote and outlying areas can occasionally take a little longer, while larger plants may travel with a different courier service because of their size.
What happens over weekends?
This is something customers often worry about when ordering live plants.
In our experience, parcels continue moving through the courier network and distribution hubs over the weekend, even when final delivery only takes place on working days.
For example, a plant collected from us on a Friday may already have reached Cape Town by Monday and be ready for the next stage of delivery.
Because of this, we are comfortable dispatching plants throughout the working week rather than unnecessarily holding Friday orders back.
How are the plants packed?
Every plant is packed according to its size, shape and growth habit.
The nursery pot and growing medium are secured before the plant is carefully positioned inside its shipping box.
Taller and larger plants require considerably more packaging and, in some cases, specially sized boxes.
We pack orders as close as possible to courier collection so that plants spend the minimum amount of unnecessary time boxed.
When unpacking, you may find that some leaves have been gently positioned or supported for transport. Once the plant is removed from the box, simply allow it a little time to relax back into its natural position.
XL and XXL plants
Shipping a large plant requires a little more preparation than shipping a small one.
XL and XXL plants need additional packaging, larger boxes and sometimes a different courier depending on the delivery area.
For this reason, larger plant orders may occasionally take a little longer to prepare for dispatch.
If there is anything unusual about the delivery of your order, we’ll contact you.
Tracking your delivery
Once your parcel has been collected and processed by the courier, tracking information will be sent to you.
Please allow a little time for the courier’s tracking system to update. A tracking number may sometimes be issued before the first scan appears.
Once your parcel is with the courier, the tracking link is the best place to follow its journey.
Delivery charges
Delivery charges are calculated at checkout according to your delivery area and the size of the items in your order.
Because larger plants and oversized parcels require different packaging and courier services, shipping costs can vary depending on what is in your basket.
Collecting your order
Collection from us in Randburg is available by prior arrangement.
We are an online nursery and are not open for walk-in shopping, so please wait until we have confirmed that your order is ready before coming through.
We’ll arrange a suitable collection time with you once everything has been prepared.
What if my plant is damaged in transit?
We take a great deal of care when packing plants, but occasionally something can go wrong while a parcel is moving through the courier network.
If your parcel arrives with significant courier damage, please contact us as soon as possible and send photographs of the:
- outside of the box
- internal packaging
- affected plant
- nursery pot, if damaged
This allows us to assess what has happened and, where necessary, take it up with the courier.
A little care before it leaves us
We want your plants on their way as quickly as possible, but we never rush the preparation and packing process.
Every plant is checked, prepared and packed properly before it leaves us.
Our aim is simple: to get your plant from our nursery to your door safely, securely and in the best possible condition.
