Mycorrhizal fungi
Arbuscular Mycorrhizal fungi – so what are they?
Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are intimately associated with the roots of most flowering plants, herbs, vegetables and agricultural crops. This product contain selected combinations of indigenous AM fungi suited for all your plant production needs.
How do AM fungi benefit plants?
AM fungi form a symbiotic relationship with the plants providing them with nutrients from the soil through better exploitation of the soil environment. Mycorrhizal fungi treated plants are stronger, healthier and more tolerant to stress conditions than plants with poor colonisation. The benefits of using AM fungi are summarised as follows:
1. Increase tolerance to drought stress
2. Improve root development
3. Increase uptake of nutrients and water
4. Improve plant fitness and health
5. Suppress weedy non-mycorrhizal plants
6. Increase soil microbial biodiversity
7. Improve soil aggregation and aeration
8. Reduce transplant failure
9. Optimise productivity
How to use Mycorrhizal fungi?
Transplanting seedlings and plants in the garden or re-potting plants: apply a level teaspoon (5ml) at the bottom of the planting hole, below the roots.
For growing seedlings: mix one level teaspoon (5ml) for every 5-10 seeds into the seedling mixture.
Fertilizing and Pesticides
Prevent over fertilising and non-discriminate use of pesticides.
These are naturally occurring soil microorganisms, which have not been genetically altered in any way. The product is indigenous, environmentally-friendly and produced in an inert carrier.
