Philodendron Brasil Care Guide

☀️ Light requirements:
Philodendron Brasil does best in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but its variegation may become less pronounced. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, so keep it near a bright window with filtered light.

💧 Watering:
Allow the top 3–5 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of issues—yellowing leaves are often a sign that the roots are staying too wet. In warmer months, you might find it needs water once a week, and less frequently in winter.

🌱 Soil & Repotting:
For optimal drainage and healthy roots, you can use our premixed Aroid Mix, or you can create your own potting mix using Barks Unlimited Potting Soil combined with Perlite. Repot every year or so in early spring if the roots start to circle the bottom of the pot.

🌿 Humidity & Temperature:
Philodendron Brasil appreciates moderate to high humidity, but it won’t fuss in standard indoor air. It thrives at temperatures between 18–26°C. You can increase humidity with a pebble tray or occasional misting if the air is very dry.

🌸 Feeding:
During the growing season (spring to early autumn), feed once a month with a controlled release fertiliser or a diluted organic fertiliser. Hold off on feeding in winter.

🐛 Pests & Problems:
Philodendrons are generally pest-resistant, but keep an eye out for mealybugs, spider mites, or aphids. If needed, treat with an insecticidal spray and wipe the leaves clean to keep them glossy and healthy.

✂️ Pruning & Propagation:
You can trim back leggy vines to encourage fuller growth. Pruned stems can be propagated easily in water or directly into soil—just make sure each cutting has at least one node.
