Name

Commonly known as: Snake Plant Golden Rose | Golden Bird’s Nest Snake Plant

Botanical name: Dracaena trifasciata ‘Golden Rosette’

Snake Plant Golden Rose combines the durability of traditional snake plants with a more compact, sculpted form. Instead of producing tall upright leaves, the foliage grows in tight layered clusters, creating a dense rosette shape that stays controlled and balanced.

The leaves show strong contrast, with deep green centres edged in bright golden yellow. Because the foliage grows closely together, the variegation appears more concentrated, giving the plant a bold, defined look despite its smaller size.

The compact growth habit makes it particularly useful where space is limited. It fits comfortably onto desks, shelves, side tables, and smaller surfaces while still providing strong structure and visual weight.

Like other snake plants, Golden Rosette stores moisture in its leaves, allowing it to tolerate irregular watering and changing indoor conditions. It remains one of the easiest indoor plants to maintain while still offering strong colour and form.

Over time, the plant produces additional shoots from the base, gradually increasing fullness while maintaining its compact shape.

Snake Plant Golden Rose Care Guide

Water logo

Watering – How often should it be watered?

Allow the growing medium to dry out completely between waterings. Snake Plants prefer a drier cycle and are highly sensitive to overwatering.

Light logo

Light – What light does Snake Plant Golden Rosette need?

Bright, indirect light works best for maintaining strong variegation, although it adapts very well to medium and lower light conditions. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun.

Humidity logo

Humidity – Does it need extra humidity?

No. Snake Plants adapt very well to normal indoor humidity and dry air conditions.

Soil Logo

Soil – What soil works best?

Use a fast-draining growing medium that allows strong airflow around the roots. Milled Bark Growing Medium works particularly well for Snake Plants. You can also incorporate Perlite for even sharper drainage if desired.

Fertilizing logo

Feeding – How should it be fertilised?

Feed lightly during the growing season with Grobest Organic Fertiliser every 6–8 weeks. For stronger growth, Novatec Soluble Fertiliser can be used occasionally.

Repotting logi

Repotting – When should it be repotted?

Repot every 2–3 years or once the plant becomes heavily root-bound. Refresh with Milled Bark Growing Medium and incorporate TerraPlus Natura N and Controlled Release Fertiliser during repotting.

Pest image

Pests – What pests should I watch for?

Snake Plants are generally resistant to pests, although occasional mealybugs may appear. Treat early with an insecticidal spray if necessary.

Temerature image

Temperature – What temperature suits it best?

Snake Plant Golden Rosette grows well between 16°C and 30°C. Avoid temperatures below 10°C and protect from frost.
