Sphagnum Moss

Sphagnum moss is a versatile and beneficial planting medium that holds a key role in horticulture and various industries.  Its unique qualities, such as superior water retention and antimicrobial properties, make it a sought-after resource with diverse applications.

Sphagnum moss stands out for its remarkable ability to absorb and retain water. This makes it an invaluable substrate to use in pots, enhancing moisture levels for plants that thrive in humid conditions. 

It can be kept for some time and allowed to dry out. When needed all you need to do is soak it in water for a few hours in order for it to hydrate again. 

Also think about incorportating a controlled release fertlizer when plant plants as sphagnum doesn’t carry any nurtients naturally. This way they will constantly have nurtients available for uptake. 

When receiving your bag of sphanum, it will already by fully hydrated, so you can use it immediately.  Many people have asked that there might be small twigs or branches in them and if they should be removed. They are all natural and we can assure you that your plants won’t mind the additional texture at all. What we have found that over time, which the sphagnum compressed, these extra pieces to assist with addition air flow.
