Botanical name: Ficus Lyrata Mini
Commonly known as: Fiddle Leaf Fig Mini
The Ficus lyrata Mini gives you all the drama of a fiddle leaf fig, just in a more compact size. Its large, violin-shaped leaves bring that same sculptural look, but because it stays smaller, it fits perfectly on shelves, desks, or in snug spaces where the full-size version would take over.
Ficus Lyrata Mini Care Guide
☀️ Light:
Bright, indirect light is best. Near a sunny window works well, but avoid harsh direct rays which can burn the leaves. In low light, it will survive but grow slower and drop lower leaves.
💧 Watering:
Water when the top 4–5cm of soil feels dry. Ficus plants don’t like being too wet, so make sure the pot drains well. If you’re unsure, it’s better to wait a day than to overwater.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity:
Likes warmth, ideally between 18–28°C. Keep it away from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes. Average household humidity is fine, but wiping the leaves now and then keeps them looking fresh.
🪴 Soil & Repotting:
Use our Aroid Mix or combine Barks Unlimited Potting Soil with Perlite. Add Bark Chips when repotting to keep the roots happy. Repot every 2 years as it slowly grows into a bigger plant.
🍃 Fertiliser:
A steady feeder. Use Controlled Release Fertiliser every few months, or top up with Organic Fertiliser during the growing season. Regular feeding helps it keep those large glossy leaves.
🐛 Pests:
Occasionally gets scale or spider mites if stressed. Keep an eye out and treat with insecticidal spray if needed.
The Ficus lyrata Mini is a stylish little plant that gives you the fiddle leaf look without taking over the whole room.
