Commonly known as: Large Variegated Peace Lily
Botanical name:Spathiphyllum (variegated form)
Large Variegated Peace Lily brings a lighter, more detailed look compared to standard green varieties. The leaves show a mix of green and white patterning, which gives the plant a brighter presence and helps lift darker corners of a room.
At around 40cm tall, it remains compact while still full and balanced. The leaves grow from the base and spread outward, forming a neat cluster that fits well on side tables, desks or shelves. The variegation adds contrast without making the plant feel busy.
This plant also produces the familiar peace lily blooms. The white spathes rise above the foliage and complement the variegated leaves, adding another layer of interest without overpowering the plant.
Variegated Peace Lily adapts well to indoor conditions. With steady watering and consistent light, it maintains healthy foliage and continues producing new leaves from the base, gradually increasing in fullness over time.
Large Variegated Peace Lily Care Guide
Watering – How often should it be watered?
Keep the soil evenly moist. Water when the top 2–3cm begins to dry out. Like other peace lilies, it will droop slightly when thirsty, which makes it easy to read. After watering, it should recover quickly.
Light – What light does Variegated Peace Lily need?
Bright, indirect light works best, especially to maintain strong variegation. It can tolerate medium light, but lower light may reduce the white patterning over time. Avoid direct sun, as it can scorch the leaves.
Humidity – Does it need extra humidity?
Average indoor humidity is usually sufficient. Slightly higher humidity helps maintain smooth leaf edges and prevents browning tips.
Soil – What soil works best?
Use a moisture-retentive but well-draining mix. Indoor Potting Soil works well as a base. Improve airflow and drainage by incorporating Perlite and Bark Chips.
Feeding – How should it be fertilised?
Feed during the growing season with Grobest Organic Fertiliser every 4–6 weeks. For stronger growth and flowering, Novatec Soluble Fertiliser can be used occasionally.
Repotting – When should it be repotted?
Repot every 12–18 months or once the plant becomes root-bound. Move up one pot size only. When repotting, incorporate TerraPlus Natura N and Controlled Release Fertiliser into fresh mix.
Pests – What pests should I watch for?
Spider mites and aphids can occasionally appear. Regular checks and early treatment with an insecticidal spray will prevent issues.
Temperature – What temperature suits it best?
Variegated Peace Lily grows well between 18°C and 28°C. Avoid temperatures below 12°C and protect it from cold drafts.
