Botanical name: Monstera Adansonii
Commonly known as: Swiss Cheese plant
The Monstera adansonii, better known as the Swiss Cheese Vine, is the rebel cousin of the Monstera deliciosa — wild, quirky, and ridiculously fun to grow. Its leaves are full of natural holes, or “fenestrations,” that make it look like something out of a tropical dream. Whether it’s trailing off a shelf or climbing a moss pole, this plant brings instant life and movement to any space.
Monstera Adansonii Care Guide
☀️ Light:
Adansonii loves bright, indirect light. A bit of morning sun is fine, but harsh afternoon rays can scorch the delicate leaves. If it’s reaching for the light or the leaves lose their holes, it’s a sign it needs more brightness.
💧 Watering:
Keep the soil slightly moist, letting the top 2–3 cm dry before watering again. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so make sure your pot has good drainage.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity:
Thrives in warmth between 18–28 °C. It loves humidity — think steamy bathroom or a quick mist every few days.
🪴 Soil & Repotting:
For best results, plant it in our Aroid Mix or combine Barks Unlimited Potting Soil with Perlite. Add Bark Chips when repotting to keep the mix airy. Repot yearly as it grows fast.
🍃 Fertiliser:
Feed monthly in spring and summer with Controlled Release Fertiliser and top up with Organic Fertiliser.
🐛 Pests:
Usually pest-free, but wipe leaves now and then to keep them glossy and dust-free.
The Monstera adansonii is one of those plants that never gets old — a proper collector’s piece that gives your home that modern-jungle feel without any drama.
