If you’re after a fern that brings something a little different to your space, the Rabbit’s Foot Fern is a great pick. It’s named for its creeping, fuzzy rhizomes that resemble little rabbit feet as they stretch over the edges of the pot. Those soft arching fronds aren’t just good-looking—they’re also forgiving and fairly easy to maintain indoors.
This fern works brilliantly in a hanging pot or on a shelf where its fuzzy ‘feet’ can trail down. It prefers soft, indirect light and a bit of humidity, but it’s not too fussy. Just keep the soil lightly moist and make sure it doesn’t sit in water, and you’ll have a happy, healthy fern bringing loads of character into your space.

☀️ Light Requirements:
Bright, indirect light is perfect. Avoid direct sunlight as it can cause the fronds to crisp or turn yellow. It can handle medium light too, making it suitable for less sunny rooms.
💧 Watering:
Water when the top 2–3cm of soil feels dry. Try to keep the soil consistently moist, but never soggy. Empty saucers after watering to prevent root rot.
🌱 Soil & Repotting:
For optimal drainage and healthy roots, you can use our premixed Aroid Mix, or you can create your own potting mix using Barks Unlimited Potting Soil combined with Perlite. When repotting, add a top layer of Bark Chips to help maintain surface moisture and keep the rhizomes visible and happy.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity:
Loves warmth and humidity. Keep it in a space between 18–26°C, and mist occasionally or place near a humidifier—especially during dry months.
🌿 Feeding:
Use a Controlled Release Fertiliser in spring and summer, and boost growth with an organic fertiliser once a month. Avoid overfeeding in winter.
🐛 Pests & Problems:
Watch out for mealybugs and scale, especially around the rhizomes. Wipe them off gently and treat with insecticidal spray if needed. Brown, crispy tips often mean it needs more humidity or slightly more frequent watering.
